Welcome to the Finger Lakes! Our theme song:

In a town this size, there's no place to hide
Everywhere you go, you meet someone you know...
In a smokey bar, in the backseat of your car
In your own little house, someone's sure to find you out
What you do and what you think
What you eat and what you drink...

Janis Kelly releases video

Ultra-liberal Ithaca, NY's own nationally prominent conservative blogger, Professor Jacobson, looks forward to the shock waves that will result from Republican Janis Kelly's realistically possible victory in that city's upcoming mayoral election.
You have not seen anything like what will take place here if Janis Kelly, Republican and unabashed Tea Party supporter, is elected Mayor of Ithaca.  You can donate here.  Her website, which should be live any minute, is KellyForMayor.org.  You can follow her on Twitter and Facebook.
Janis has just posted a You Tube video, provided above for your convenience.  Note her creative use of "fracking."

Janis Kelly: "politically correct corruption"

Kelly

From the deep within Groves of Academe, the only Republican candidate for Mayor of Ithaca, NY, fires a fastball.
We must stop using public money for favored private groups. At the first Common Council meeting I attended, the council (including both J.R. Clairborne and Svante Myrick) used $50,000 in "low-income housing" funds to guarantee a loan for the State Theatre. This is wrong. A private car rental company (whose executive director, Jennifer Dotson, is on Common Council) has been redefined as "public transportation" and given reserved parking spaces all over the city, apparently at no cost. This is low-grade, politically correct corruption, and it is wrong.
Corruption, indeed.

Its about time someone exposed this scam .  Overtaxed Finger Lakes families are being forced to subsidize short-term rental cars for Ivy League swells.  Were we Ithacans (not likely! - ed), we'd support Kelly against her numerous lefty opponents.

Kelly shakes up Ithaca race

Janis Kelly

This year's mayoral election field in stereotypical Finger Lakes college town Ithaca, NY was shaping up to be the usual circular firing squad of leftists, greens, leftists, and leftists.  In fact, there are so many party line Democrats in the race that the local Democrat party has chosen not to endorse a candidate.  Our Ithaca correspondent suspects that this  reticence to endorse may be explained by a reluctance to offend any of the politically correct sub-groups represented by announced candidates Pam Mackesey, Svante Myrick , JR Clairborne, Anthony Gallucci, Sleepy, Dopey, Huey, Dewey, Louie, ....... zzzz .......

This morning on WHCU-AM, the Ithaca status quo  was shaken up when Janis Kelly threw her fedora into the ring.  Yes, intelligent, articulate, libertarian, female, gay Republican Janis Kelly.

Kelly will bring long absent diversity of thought to Ithaca's political echo chamber.  For the first time in our history, South of 5 and 20 endorses a candidate for mayor of Ithaca:  Janis Kelly.
