Welcome to the Finger Lakes! Our theme song:

In a town this size, there's no place to hide
Everywhere you go, you meet someone you know...
In a smokey bar, in the backseat of your car
In your own little house, someone's sure to find you out
What you do and what you think
What you eat and what you drink...

Marco Rubio gets it

Rubio understands why our ancestors got on the boat.

Our enemies are already already after him.  He'd better watch his back.

Obama's finished!

My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from the nation’s governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the “fundamental transformation” of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.
Bad news for America, but worse news for Obama.  Professor Jacobson explains:
Probably for the better in the drive to unseat Obama, but only because of the political corruption of the media and establishment Republicans, who have been relentless in their attacks on her.  It disgusts me that a candidate of such quality cannot run as a practical matter, and that we are left with second and third choices.  But reality is reality, and it would have been a tough road to overcome the past three years.
Bold added.   We'll now throw our support behind the sure winner:  "anyone but Obama."

Rick Perry, Part II

Has any other candidate, announced or waiting, had the nerve to say anything like this?
Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry said Wednesday morning that he does not believe in global warming science and suggested it is grounded in scientists manipulating data for financial gain.
The Texas governor was appearing at a New Hampshire breakfast event with business leaders Wednesday morning when he said "there are a substantial number of scientists who have manipulated data so that they will have dollars rolling into their projects."
Perry said scientists are coming forward almost daily to question "the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing the climate to change." He said the climate is changing but that it has been changing "ever since the earth was formed."
Bold added.  The "mainstream media" is in shock, making Perry out to be a dangerous lunatic, but we couldn't have said it any better ourselves.

Rick Perry

We're realists here in the Finger Lakes.  We've had to endure two Cuomos and a carpetbagger.  We understand that the perfect can be the enemy of the good, but we don't need no Romneycare.  So, watch this and let us know what you think.

Bus tour threatens establishment

Beginning Sunday, Sarah Palin's bus tour will include Washington, DC and New Hampshire.  Supporters are buzzing with anticipation, but establishment Republicans are so upset they're postponing their tee times.
Whatever her plans, Ms. Palin's re-emergence into the spotlight will affect the race for the GOP nomination, party strategists say. The tour likely will garner wide press attention at a moment when Republican presidential hopefuls have started trying to generate enthusiasm for their own candidacies.
Ms. Palin's revived public presence could reshape the battle for the support of social conservatives and tea party-affiliated Republicans.
Her flirtation with a run also could prompt undecided Republican donors and party leaders to hold back on aligning with any candidate as they wait for the field to settle.
"She's a threat to everyone," said Fergus Cullen, a former Republican Party chairman in New Hampshire.
No, Fergus, the real "threat to everyone" is the potential for four more years on Obama's road to serfdom.  America needs a candidate who's a threat to Democrats.

Speaking of presidential candidates

Unlikely Hospitalist heard an interesting real estate rumor.
The internets are abuzz with rumors that Sarah Palin has purchased a home in Scottsdale Arizona so that she can set up shop in the contiguous US as she prepares for a 2012 Presidential run.

Photo is from Don Surber's February 11, 2010 post.
46 years ago today, Sarah “Sally” Heath gave birth to the 45th president in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Update:  Is this the house?

We need a candidate who can win...

...and one who will lead.

"So, to the GOP establishment: if you stand on the platform, if you stand by your pledges, we will stand with you. We will fight with you, GOP. We have your back. Together we will win because America will win!

We didn’t elect you just to re-arrange the deck chairs on a sinking Titanic. We didn’t elect you to just stand back and watch Obama re-distribute those deck chairs. What we need is for you to stand up, GOP, and fight. Maybe I should ask some of the Badger women’s hockey team—those champions—maybe I should ask them if we should be suggesting to GOP leaders they need to learn how to fight like a girl! …"

Gary Johnson's hat in the ring

In New Hampshire today, staunch libertarian Gary Johnson has announced his run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.  We approve.
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, an avid athlete who climbed Mt. Everest and has a strong libertarian bent, announced Thursday that that he will seek the GOP nomination for president, expanding an already crowded field.

Johnson, 58, made his announcement on the steps of the New Hampshire State House, and like his fellow libertarian Republican Ron Paul, made extensive use of email and Twitter to notify potential followers.

“Today's mess didn't just happen. We elected it -- one senator, member of Congress and president at a time,” Johnson said in a statement. “Our leaders in Washington, D.C., have ‘led' America to record unemployment, a devalued currency, banking scandals, the mortgage crisis, drug crisis, economic crisis, loss of our nation's industrial might -- and a long list of other reminders our nation is way off course.”
